Tau Bay Restaurant - Pho of Flavor and Surprises

Entertaining fish tank with faux fish
I'll have to admit that my female human and I have never been a great lover of Pho. This might have to do with our shared dislike of plain broth or broth like soups, which I personally find can too often be overly salty, greasy, or just plain bland. I usually do everything in my power to avoid broth like anything, which means I lean towards ordering creamier type soups or hearty stews. I would even prefer French onion soup as the broth is often soaked up by the bread within. So the idea of eating meat and noodles swimming in broth doesn't excite me (not to mention that the meat is often feeb, so not bovine friendly).

Stuffed at Shanghai 456

Pork and Feeb Buns with Soup
We attended a tweet up recently with @FoodKarmaBlog, @BuntCake, @baconhound, @joyfulfollies, and @ZoomJer at Shanghai 456. The restaurant itself is a bit difficult to find if you don't know where to look. Located at the Edmonton City Center Airport complex in building 18, it's located in the Edmonton Flying Club building. Upon entering, you will see a simple, hand drawn sign pointing the way to Shanghai 456, leading to an old cafeteria, decorated with model planes of various sizes hanging from the ceiling. Sounds can be heard from the hanger located just adjacent, with floor hockey players periodically coming out to purchase beverages.

A Macaron Making We Go with Taste Tripping!

Amazing breakfast by @ACanadianFoodie
Macarons aren't called the Diva cookie for nothing as we found out this past Saturday. Taste Tripping offers a variety of different cooking classes, and is owned and operated by the vivacious @ACanadianFoodie, also of the blog A Canadian Foodie. This winter, they are hosting two macaron making classes to teach interested and adventurous bakers how to make this deliciously delicate pastry. Unfortunately dear reader, both classes are sold out at the moment.

Scumptious V Sandwiches

V Sandwiches on Whyte
I had been hearing about V Sandwiches on Twitter for quite some time before I'd actually managed to visit their location on Whyte Avenue. Although the space looks small from the outside, it actually has an ample amount of seating inside. Their focus is on Vietnamese submarine sandwiches and their menu has both classic Vietnamese sub flavours as well as Asian inspired, all of which come stuffed with cilantro, onions, cucumbers, lettuce and pickled carrots.
