Beguiling Battistas

Spicy Italian
Battista's Calzone Company has been a name repeated time and time again as the go to lunch place on Twitter. Once pal @thepolishviking became involved with the business, I knew I had to visit. Located on 118 Avenue, you can't miss the bright purple building that sets itself apart from the rest of the buildings surrounding it. It calls out for people to come in and find out what's inside, a calzone haven that will capture your heart upon first bite.

Lest you think a calzone is simply a pizza folded in half, let me assure you it is not! The dough tastes much more flavourful and is texturally different than a pizza. The toppings although similar, benefit from being wrapped and sheltered inside this envelope, making the filling moister and juicier than toppings found cooked naked to the elements on pizza.

Nutella Calzone
Although their menu is limited, their flavour is not! From the classico filled with an array of delightful Italian meats, to their Spicy Italian where the sausage and peppers explode in your mouth with a kick of heat! Lastly, a luscious, delectable and gooey nutella calzone, caressing crispy slices of strawberries. Anything you pick will satiate your hunger.

Having just celebrated their first anniversary, here's hoping that there will be many more to come!
