First Impressions are deceiving at Masala Wok

Butter Chicken
I had originally heard about Masala Wok from my dental hygienist. She always raved about their buffet and when a Groupon went on sale, we decided to give it a try. I have to let you know that it’s not the easiest place to find. You basically have to know that it’s there. The restaurant itself doesn’t look like much from the outside, as it’s part of an older strip mall, and neither does the inside. We’ve been twice, once before the renovations and once after. I have to admit that it looks much better after the renovation, but the interior still looks rather sparse, although not nearly as dated as before. However, the look of the restaurant is deceiving as one wouldn't expect much given the efforts put into the appearance of the restaurant, but all their efforts go towards their food.

Onion and Garlic Naan

The food at Masala Wok is worth the drive though, especially their butter chicken. The chicken was plentiful and moist, while the sauce was creamy without being rich, slightly spicy and with just the right about of tomato gravy. When combined with their cool and refreshing raita, it’s downright addictive! They also have a variety of naan including a fragrant garlic naan and a light and crispy onion naan. The only disappointment was their shrimp biryani was not as sweet or spicy as @Michpetersjones shrimp biryani, as it felt too lightly seasoned. Also their buffet is great with lots to choose from, both Indian and Indo-Chinese, which is constantly refreshed and they only bring out a little naan at a time so it stays crisp and fresh.
Shrimp Biryani

They constantly have Groupons and Living Socials, probably because they are not that busy, but they really deserve more business than they are currently garnering. If you're on the area or don't mind going for a drive, give Masala Wok a chance, their food really is enjoyable.
