Consistently Comforting Cactus Club

Cactus Club
I know Cactus Club Cafe is a chain and as I’ve been told, many of their items are premade in a commissary kitchen elsewhere, frozen and shipped to their many locations across Western Canada, but I can’t resist going nonetheless whenever I'm at West Edmonton Mall.

Designed as a chic and upscale eatery, the restaurant is always dimly lit and pumping out music. However even if it’s not all freshly sourced and made, their food is consistently good.

Cibo Bistro - Many Cow Coins Required

What to order?
We had heard much buzz from Edmonton Journal and Dine and Write about Cibo Bistro, located in Oliver Square. This restaurant has been touted as a real contender to give Corso 32 a run for it’s money, so we planned an outing with @TFFroyoYEG, @FoodKarmaBlog and @Buntcake to try it out. Upon entering, we instantly noted that the space is not nearly as small as many new restaurants opening up downtown, and they had many high end finishes which @buntcake commented reminded him of show homes.

Savoury South Indian Food at Savoy Cafe

Look for the bright pink awning past the Tim Horton's
I have to admin that I know very little about Indian food in general other than I like the taste of it. I know even less about the different regional cuisines of India, such as what the characteristics of South Indian cuisine are. However, little by little, under the tutelage of @michpetersjones, I am learning and experience all that Indian cuisine has to offer.

Highlands Kitchen - More than just Ukranian Food (CLOSED)

Borscht
If you’ve never been to Highlands Kitchen before, it’s located on a busy road in a residential neighborhood. Keep your eyes peeled as you drive up because it can be a bit hard to find, located in a  nondescript strip mall.

Belated Chinese New Years' Tweet Up at Red Phoenix (CLOSED)

Chicken Wings stuffed with Sticky Rice
This past weekend, I held a belated Chinese New Years dinner tweet up with pals @BigAddie, @CynthiaStrawson, @MirabelleMacs, @CaldwellCreates, as well as other friends and my family. We gathered at the Red Phoenix, my favorite place to go for authentic Hong Kong style Chinese cuisine. A family run business, the restaurant is located in what's obviously a former Pizza Hut in Kingsway Mews. It's always a good sign when the owners don't speak English very well, and the best food is located on a set menu written entirely in Chinese.
